Arm Pain & Numbness

The arms and hands play a great role in day to day activities, hence when pain and numbness strikes, dealing with the conditions might not be easy. By just knowing that your hands have been rendered not functional can also be quite distressing; this can affect an individual psychologically.

An arm comprises of 40 muscles, 30 bones and 14 nerves that play major roles in the body; these components of the arm make it more adaptable, dexterous and diligent than any imitative tool out there. The many muscles, bones and ligaments found in the arms enable dexterity and movement to some degree.

There are several causes of pain and numbness in the hands or arms, such as minor injuries (these could be tears of the ligaments, strains of the joints or even fractures in the bones), arthritis, poor body posture, overuse of constant, problems of the heart, pain in the neck, problems with the spine, nerve problems, the carpal tunnel syndrome and many other illnesses, such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis and cancer.

It is common for patients suffering from pain or numbness in their arms to be wrongly diagnosed with the carpal tunnel syndrome; this is where the pain or condition originates either from the sublaxation of the cervical spine or a pinched nerve. Misdiagnosis can only occur when tests or exams are not conducted to find out the root cause of the problem, but the doctor resorts to speculations.

Chiropractic care can help relieve the pain and numbness associated with the arms or even hands. The first thing done by the chiropractor is to diagnose the patient; this is very critical for effective and complete treatment of the condition. Pain or numbness in the arms can lead to various neck problems or conditions because the nerves responsible for the control of the hands and arms are located in the neck.

During diagnosis by our chiropractor, the fingertips all through to the necks are examined in order to find out the root cause of condition. Usually, the conditions result from bone misalignments or subluxations. Tightening of the nerves by body muscles can also cause the occurrence of pain and numbness in the arms.

With the root cause of the pain and numbness known after an examination, natural techniques are used to relax the overactive muscles through spine adjustments by a chiropractor. Pressure exerted on the nerves is reduced through upper thoracic vertebrae and cervical adjustments. As a result, normal impulses of the nerves are restored. The chiropractor cares for the body’s nerves until the pain and numbness is completely eliminated and nerves get to perform normally.

There are several techniques used by our chiropractors to treat either the arm pain or numbness or even both and some of them include manipulation of the body joints and therapy done on the soft tissues as well as points of trigger. In order to adjust the vertebrae back to its normal position, the body muscles must be strengthened; this is achieved through routine exercises recommended by the chiropractor.

Although some patients with this condition take no time to heal, others take some time before they can be completely healed; this means the duration of treatment varies from one patient to another and their specific condition. Chiropractic care and treatment sure does help. In order to completely get rid of this condition, patients visiting Clark Chiropractic.

Whether you have suffered from arm pain for a very long time or just a few days or weeks, a chiropractor is able to tailor a proper technique or therapy to remedy the condition.

Chiropractic Care for Children

Chiropractic care is perfect for children not just because the practice uses natural techniques, but due to the fact that they respond to this kind of treatment very fast. In fact, they form the largest base of chiropractic beneficiaries globally. It is a surprise to many people who perceive chiropractic care only as a solution for back and neck problems to find that the method of treatment actually works for the various health conditions many children face.

Disturbances of the Nervous System

The nervous system mainly comprises of the spinal cord, the brain as well as all body nerves that regulates and controls a person’s whole body. Most children suffer from health problems that relate to the interference of their nervous systems; this usually occurs along their spines. In order to help the body of a child to resume functioning normally, the interference of the nervous system is reduced through the application of the gentle chiropractic techniques of adjustment. When the body and brain communicates clearly, good health is attained naturally.

Children and Chiropractic Care

When children are examined, results have always indicated that their health problems are associated with their nervous systems that have undergone some interferences. However, despite the varying names used to refer to the disturbances that occur to the nervous systems in children, they are not treated using chiropractic care. The major goal of chiropractic care in children is to find and reduce the underlying problem with the nervous system.

Here are some common problems that can be managed using the techniques of chiropractic care:

Colic – The trauma experienced by pregnant women during natural birth can potentially bring about disturbance in the child’s nervous system. It is as a result of this fact, and the inability of the born child to communicate that they usually cry and cry.

Infertility – Studies have indicated that women who think that they cannot have children can improve their fertility through chiropractic care. The treatment restores the control the nervous system has over the organs of reproduction.

Infections of the Ears – A child’s ears can easily get infected when their immune and nervous systems are compromised through upper spine restrictions that are biomechanical in nature.

Traumatic Birth – Stressful births, such as C-section, in-utero constraint or extraction through vacuum can cause a child to have defects shortly after birth.

Bed Wetting – The nerves responsible for transmitting messages from the brain to control the bladder can be compromised and blocked when an interference occurs in the nervous system found in the lower back.

ADHD – Instead of using psychotropic drugs, most parents should opt for chiropractic care to ease the tension in the nerves of their children. They have realized great results through this kind of treatment.

Asthma – Chiropractic care helps reduce or eliminate asthma attacks in children by countering and reducing the effect of interference to the nervous system comprising the diaphragm, lungs as well as bronchial tubes.

Scoliosis – Children suffering from this ailment have found relief through chiropractic care.

Increasing Pains – Increasing pain in the body usually results from the nervous system being exposed to stress that is biomechanical in nature. With chiropractic care, both children and adults can easily kiss away their pains.

Wellness – Chiropractic care can also help determine a child’s wellness by unearthing their body problems that are neurological or structural in nature before they get more serious.

Whiplash

Whiplash is one of many misunderstood injuries we face. Many people take whiplash very lightly, but it can be very serious. Having whiplash may put unnecessary stress and strains on your spine and neck. Complications due to a whiplash injury may lead to headaches, migraines and neck pain. Whiplash may contribute to sleepless nights or the inability to focus on certain tasks. Medication may provide you with short term relief but chiropractic care is the most efficient and effective way to get permanent relief.

Treatment of Whiplash Injuries

Millions of car crash patients are affected on a yearly basis by whiplash injuries. Whether the patients experience minor or major accident injuries, they are bound to experience health problems that are long term such as headaches, chronic pain in the neck or even migraines, if they do not get immediate proper care and treatment. Patients who have been involved in car accidents can get assistance from our chiropractor. The key to chronic pain prevention as well as other related serious concerns about health is getting treatment promptly. When the cervical spine is knocked out of alignment by an impact rear-end force, a whiplash injury takes place. As a result, the patient’s head can snap back and forth unexpectedly. Neck tendons, nerves, muscles and the cervical spine are affected by Whiplash injuries. It is a surprise to many patients that they incur such injuries, even when driving at low speeds of up to 5 pmh. Whiplash injuries can also result from sports. For instance, contact sports such as football can trigger a forceful injury from behind to displace the cervical spine from its original alignment. Some symptoms of Whiplash include shoulders, neck and upper backs that are stiff and painful; dizziness, headaches, chronic fatigue, ringing in the ears or blurred vision, a tingling or burning sensation in the neck; sleeping and concentration difficulties, memory loss, and numb or tingling hands, arms as well as shoulders. This shows that there exists an underlying displacement or misalignment of the spinal cord. However, note that the majority of these symptoms takes time to show; they do not present themselves immediately after an auto crash. Injury patients can develop chronic pain over time. Therefore, this explains why it is critical for our chiropractor to examine accident victims immediately after auto accidents. For more information on whiplash see our friends at The Whiplash Resource Network.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Have you been suffering from back or neck pain? A Chiropractic Adjustment is your solution!

More than 35 % of people that go to chiropractors do. It may be time for a chiropractic adjustment ( spinal adjustment). A spinal adjustment refers to physically adjusting the spinal vertebrae. The goal of a spinal adjustment aims to reduce your vertebral subluxation and return your spine back to normal. A subluxation is the bones of your spine moving out of position and creating a tension on your spinal nerves. This tension can cause severe back and neck pain for you. If you are suffering from this type of tension on your back or neck, please contact us immediately.

Chiropractic care is an effective way of treating conditions associated with trauma or injury, as well as maintaining optimum health and function. It is designed to encourage normal spinal function, prevent relapses of the original condition and help maintain your overall health and well-being. Through spinal adjustment, pressure caused by vertebral misalignment is eliminated, and proper nervous system function is restored to the body, resulting in pain relief. Our chiropractors will place you in a specific positions depending on what needs to be treated.

There are three phases involved in Chiropractic Care:

RELIEF (ACUTE) CARE:
During this phase the patient is placed on a specially designed table. The Chiropractor will then apply controlled pressure with their hands on affected area (joint). The majority of people come seeking pain relief, typically in the lower back. Discomfort is reduced and the condition stabilized in a short period of time, depending on the specific condition.

CORRECTIVE (REHABILITATIVE) CARE:
This phase deals with correcting any underlying injury or cause of discomfort, as well as strengthening soft body tissues and improving neuro-musculoskeletal function. There is more time between office visits during this phase. After proper instruction, some procedures can be performed at home. Exercise, proper nutrition and modification of daily habits can aid treatment.

WELLNESS (PREVENTIVE) CARE:
Keeping your spine in proper alignment through regular visits to our office can help you stay healthy and free of pain. The many benefits of Chiropractic Care will be well worth your time and effort in the long run. Make Clark Chiropractic a part of your journey to your health and pain relief.

At Clark Chiropractic, we make sure to identify and eliminate the source of your pain. Restoring your full mobility and functionality is our primary goal with our chiropractic adjustment. With our hands on approach, we provide each of our patients with spinal manipulation and alternative treatments to enable your body to heal itself without any type of surgery or medication. Our chiropractic care is safe and effective for you. If you have any question regarding an adjustment, please feel free to call our Silverdale office for your free consultation.

Cold Laser Therapy

Modern Cold Laser Therapy can be used by chiropractors to generate multiple benefits that have a positive impact for patients. The system utilizes laser sources of light that are non-invasive and safe for your skin. The Cold Laser Therapy device is powerful, it is neither painful nor hot.

Advanced healing, pain relief, immune system stimulation, anti-inflammation, increased rate of body metabolism and improved flow of blood are some of the most crucial benefits of using the Cold Laser Therapy device.

Chronic and acute pain can be effectively treated through the use of cold laser therapy. It is a perfect form of treatment for people suffering from joint pain, arthritis, migraine headaches, neck pain, soft tissue injuries, fibromyalgia, back pain as well as sports injuries, among other kinds of medical conditions.

How Cold Laser Therapy Works

Cold Laser Therapy works by increasing the serotonin levels in the blood to help facilitate the process of body healing. The system was actually gotten from phototherapy, which has been in use globally for at least 30 years. Phototherapy is a process in which the underlying body tissues and the skin surface are penetrated by a special kind of light in order to stimulate natural body healing processes. The laser light of a low level, which is utilized in the therapy process is compressed using the light spectrum that has either a cold or red (hot) wavelength.

The device works by directing laser light in the specific cells of the body. The body cells convert the received light into chemical energy as a way of enhancing the relief of pain and healing of the body. It also enables photons to enter into the mitochondria cells by being absorbed into the body tissues. The photogenic energy is then converted into ATP electromagnetic energy within the mitochondria cells. Mitochondria cells are the energy-storing cells of the body.

ATP is a form of energy utilized by body cells to trigger several physiological responses in the body like collagen and muscle tissue development as well as increased levels of metabolism in body cells. Moreover, ATP also stimulates the repair of tissues, improves the circulation of blood in the body, boosts the immune system, stimulates the nervous system and facilitates the healing of wounds on the body.

The positive effects of clinical Cold Laser Therapy have been confirmed by several double blind studies of at least 120 in number with over 300 published research reports. Over 90% of the studies are conducted to value and verify the laser therapy process or device.

In Europe, laser technology has been used for more than 30 years and to-date, it is the most efficient and effective treatment for inflammation and pain in joints, muscles as well as tendons. The therapy based on laser technology is non-invasive, free from drugs and has a superior ability to heal the body naturally.

Cold Laser Therapy Benefits

The Cold Laser Therapy has a number of benefits, making it perfect for chiropractic use to help patients manage certain illnesses and the kind of pain discussed above.

Some of these benefits include:

  • Non-invasive and non-toxic
  • Easy to apply, no pain or side effects

Impulse Adjusting

Impulse adjusting instruments are chiropractic instruments used to adjust the joints of the spine in order to relieve pain and restore function. Adjusting instruments are patented and FDA registered devices for treating dysfunctional spinal joints. These instruments are controlled by a micro computer circuitry on the inside of the device. This computerized mechanism produces different force settings depending on the part of body you want to treat.

The impulse adjusting device is normally tuned to the natural frequency of the body that joints, muscles and nerves respond to. The impulse adjusting device is twice as fast as other adjusting technologies. It is also 100 times faster than manual chiropractic procedures.

During treatment with the impulse adjusting device, the gentle thrust of the machine is faster than the body’s tendency to resist the adjustment. The resulting sensation is a tapping feeling on the area being treated. The impulse adjusting device is painless and afterwards patients experience pain relief and improved mobility. Patients with chronic conditions and muscle spasms may experience a delay in these after effects.

An impulse adjusting instrument is crucial in treating a wide variety of spinal related conditions. These include: low back pain, sciatica, disc problems, hip, knee, foot pain, neck pain, headaches, numbness, whiplash injuries, wrist pain, shoulder pain, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, scoliosis, TMJ, fatigue and muscle spasms.

The impulse adjusting instrument is by far a great stride in scientific development and its capacities are very impressive compared to earlier adjusting devices. If you would like more information about getting treatment with an Impulse Adjusting Instrument, call our Silverdale chiropractic location.

Most people take for granted their flexibility of their neck until a pain or injury occurs. The cause of neck pain can be from a car accident, sports injury, poor posture, or sleeping the wrong way. During an examination or consultation of a patient with this condition, our chiropractor usually will ask a numbers of questions concerning the sciatica pain in order to determine its root cause. Some common causes of this condition include spin misalignment as well as herniated disc and disk degeneration.

How Long Does it Take a Chiropractor to Relieve a Person of the Sciatica Pain?

People are unique in their own way and this, together with the root cause of sciatica pain, varies the duration it takes chiropractic treatment to eliminate the pain from one person to another.
